Answer

VALE stands for Virtual Academic Library Environment of New Jersey. It is a consortium of NJ college and university libraries.

Collectively we can gain access to more resources, share resources among ourselves, and coordinate to provide better services to students and faculty throughout the state.

CSE is a member of VALE. VALE has been tremendously helpful for us in negotiating with vendors for database subscriptions. VALE also has a Reciprocal Borrowing Program, in which CSE participates. Students, faculty and staff at participating institutions can sign up with other participating libraries to borrow directly from them. So if you're a CSE student who happens to live closer to Montclair State University, you could sign up and borrow books at its library.

One of the next major projects for VALE is developing an open source library catalog system to be shared amongst the membership.
